By AP AND JPOST.COM STAFF
Gaza residents were experiencing sporadic electricity blackouts, and Palestinian officials were blaming Israel for cutting off fuel shipments to their power plant.

The IDF military administration in Gaza spokesman Peter Lerner said the Palestinians warned their Gaza City electricity plant would run out of fuel Monday if shipments aren't resumed. He said the shipments were stopped last Wednesday because of Palestinian rocket attacks.
The Defense Ministry said Sunday no decision has been made about renewing the fuel supplies.
The Gaza City plant provides about a quarter of Gaza's electricity. Most of the rest comes directly over lines from Israel. Egypt also provides a small amount.
The fuel cuts came as a response a recent renewal in rocket fire. Five Kassam rockets were fired at at western Negev neighborhoods on Sunday, landing in the Sderot, Eshkol and Sha'ar Hanegev regions. No one was wounded and no damage was reported.
One of the Kassams landed near a kibbutz reservoir, while a second hit the fence surrounding another western Negev kibbutz. The other rockets hit open areas.
The Islamic Jihad's armed wing claimed responsibility for the attacks.

After reading this post I find my self wondering about how Islamic Jihad groups waste so much money investing in weaponry and defense.
The statement in this passage that captures my attention is the last paragraph and it reads:
"One of the Kassams landed near a kibbutz reservoir, while a second hit the fence surrounding another western Negev kibbutz. The other rockets hit open areas."
I assume that an investment of hundreds of thousands of dollars was made to be able to shoot these kassams. Rather than try to prove a point, an investment in producing the energy might cost just as much and actually get something accomplished. The fact that there have been miss fires like this legitimize the point that there are no returns coming from the money spent on weapons. This tactless use of weaponry is also representative of the barbaric nature their battles. I think that the primary goal is of these groups is to eliminate progress and just prove dominance. The only good thing about this is that the demise of these simple-minded jihad rebels is inevitable.
It is hard for me to understand or relate to this situation because as an American with a Christian background I do not see the point of destruction in the name of God. I can not claim to be the most diligent in my faith or claim to have a true grasp of what the Islamic Jihad group is trying to accomplish but I do not understand what the purpose of the violence is supposed to be. I was always taught that the right to pass judgment and impose “wraths” was supposed to be in Gods hands and not for man to act on from his own vantage point. That would be man assuming the power of God.
These groups have been warring since the beginning of time and no one group has absolute power. Many people and structures have been destroyed in the name of their faith and/or belief that they have rights to that particular land or their belief that they are to convert all humans to their way of life. After all these years and all the great losses, nothing has been settled one way or the other so really, what is the point? Would they not better serve their faith/God or be able to convert people to their ways if they showed them what I was taught, that God is a loving and forgiving God that will be there for you when no one else will? Especially since their way has not produced the results that they want.
